# How do I sort the club's dogs with tags?

In **Members** > **Dogs**, open the dog's profile and tap the "+" button next to its tags: pick an existing tag or type a new one. Only club managers and **Members & Dogs Managers** can add or remove tags.

## What are tags for?

A tag is a free label the club puts on a dog: "Puppy", "Saturday group", "Agility", "Reactive"… Tags appear in colour under the dog's name, in its profile and in its owner's profile. In the directory's **Dogs** tab, a badge on the photo shows how many tags the dog has.

Tags created by a club are only offered to that club.

## Add a tag to a dog

1. Open the menu, then **Members**, **Dogs** tab.
2. Tap the dog to open **Dog Details**.
3. Tap the "+" button to the right of the tags (or of **No categories defined**).
4. In **Add a Tag**, tap a tag from the list, or type a name in **New Tag...** and tap the "+" to create and add it.

The tag appears immediately. The dog's owner is notified and the change is recorded in the [logbook](/en/docs/dogs/dog-logbook/).

## Remove a tag

Tap the small cross on the tag in the dog's profile. The removal is also notified to the owner and recorded in the logbook, which keeps a history of the dog's successive groups or levels.

The directory search looks at dog names, not tags.
